I am Africa! In the days when age was measured in might was i born. One among seven,yet I was made in heaven, Just like a blooming rose I was born pretty, Tall, dark, with shades of beauty.

I blossomed, With hopes of tomorrow when I will become old enough to wear makeup and show the world what I am made of, I had plans, just like every other child would.

Oh! I was wonderfully made! Created in the dark, without lights to measure, so everything was in excess, visible but too tender to manifest.

If only I was allowed to grow at my own pace, If only greed did not swindle me of my own growth, only if siblings begged to share. But no! Europe was born aggressive

She wanted it all! She was created tall in a beautiful white skin, She was visible, even in the dark when I was not, She had so much embodiment of her own.

But no! It was not enough, all she wanted was all of me but my skin. She wanted my strength, might, beauty and all of my embodiment, I was strong though subtle but Europe was the opposite

She wanted all of me, and she came for me, She brought tricks, kicks, hits; I fought, wept, pleaded, and begged to share, yet my blood she shed! My soul she emptied.

And my skin she spared, not for love, but for resentment ! she said. With an empty soul and body pillared by broken bones I crawled.

Not giving up and hoping to rise, my only hope was my dark skin and my root. With broken bones yet I blossom, crawled, by decades I sat

from sitting I stood. Today I walk and run, I win medals from running, even faster than my blood who broke my bones. And tomorrow I will fly !

I am Africa ! The broken bones with athletic medals! Fallen yet I stand, broken yet I rise ! I am still an embodiment of beauty , brains, might and wealth, all wrapped in my pretty dark skin.
